Support Pharmacist
Ballylinan Pharmacy, Co. Laois
Ballylinan Pharmacy is a small, independent, family-run pharmacy at the heart of the local community in Co. Laois. We're looking for a Support Pharmacist to join our friendly team on a part-time basis, 2-3 days per week. As an independent pharmacy, we are able to offer a personal working environment where you'll get to know your patients and have a genuine say in how the pharmacy runs.
About the Role
- Part-time position — 2-3 days per week
- No late nights or Sunday work
- Start date: September 2026
- Future opportunities available for the right candidate. This role has potential to increase to full time hours and develop into a Supervising Pharmacist role in the future
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately dispensing prescriptions and checking for correct dosage, interactions, and suitability
- Overseeing the day-to-day running of the dispensary, including workflow and stock levels
- Providing clinical advice and OTC recommendations to patients, with a caring, patient-focused approach
- Administering vaccinations (flu, COVID, and other community pharmacy vaccination services)
- Supporting and supervising pharmacy support staff and trainees
- Ensuring full compliance with PSI standards, SOPs, and all relevant regulatory requirements
- Managing the MDS tray service for pateints.
- Liaising professionally with GPs, nursing homes, and other healthcare professionals as needed
- Handling and resolving any dispensing errors or safety concerns promptly and appropriately
- Contributing ideas and feedback — as a small team, your input genuinely shapes how we do things
Requirements
- Registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI), or eligible for registration
- Vaccination training essential (or willingness to complete training)
- Newly qualified pharmacists are welcome to apply — this role would suit someone at the start of their career, as well as those with more experience
- Familiarity with Irish community pharmacy schemes (PCRS, HSE schemes, Healthmail) is an advantage but not essential — full support and training will be provided
- Comfortable using MPS dispensing software, or willing to learn
- Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in patient care
- A team player who is comfortable working closely with a small, hands-on staff
- Flexible, reliable, and comfortable taking ownership of the pharmacy in the absence of the supervising pharmacist
What We Offer
- Excellent package available, commensurate with experience
- A supportive, friendly, and personal working environment — you're a valued individual here, not a number
- No late nights or Sundays
- Ongoing training and development, including vaccination training and CPD support
- The opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients and the local community
- Genuine potential for future opportunities and increased hours within the pharmacy
- A voice in how the pharmacy is run, as part of a small, close-knit independent team
Pay: €33.00-€40.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Bike to work scheme
- Employee discount
- On-site parking
- Sick pay
Work Location: In person
