Skillsource is recruiting a Senior Oracle Data & Systems Engineer on behalf of a client requiring predominantly on-site delivery in Cork. The role involves supporting and enhancing a large-scale, mission-critical data platform focused on livestock and genetic evaluation systems.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong autonomy, where the successful candidate will act as the primary technical resource responsible for database development, system integration, batch processing, and production support within a complex enterprise data environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain Oracle 19c database systems and associated architecture
- Develop and optimise PL/SQL processes for high-volume data ingestion, transformation, and reporting
- Support and enhance livestock and genetic evaluation data processing systems
- Deliver database development activities (approx. 40% of workload)
- Design and support system integrations across multiple platforms and data sources
- Develop and maintain batch processing and reporting workflows (e.g. Streamserve or equivalent)
- Provide production system support (approx. 20% of workload), including troubleshooting and performance optimisation
- Participate in on-call and out-of-hours support as required
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver enhancements and system improvements
- Maintain documentation and contribute to knowledge transfer activities
Technical Skills (Mandatory):
- Oracle 19c database development and administration (strong proficiency)
- Advanced PL/SQL development experience
- Experience working with large-scale, high-volume data systems
- Data modelling, performance tuning, and optimisation
- Experience with XML and structured data exchange formats
- Integration experience across enterprise systems
- Exposure to batch processing and reporting systems
- Experience supporting live production systems in a high-availability environment
Domain Experience (Essential):
- Demonstrated experience working with livestock, agricultural, genetic evaluation systems, or similar domain-specific data environments
- Ability to operate independently within a specialised, data-driven domain
Additional Requirements:
- Availability to work on-site in Cork for the majority of the engagement
- Flexibility to support out-of-hours and on-call requirements
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capability
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of technical delivery
Experience Profile:
- 8–15+ years’ experience in enterprise data systems
- Proven experience delivering in complex, data-intensive environments
- Strong background in database-led system development and production support
Pay: €600.00-€625.00 per day
