The Park Cafe All-Rounder has the primary responsibility for running the community café “Park Café” on a daily basis including event catering for the Education Centre and Ecopark. Usual hours would be 8.30 to 3pm Monday to Friday along with time allocated for a local grocery trip or online shop. Job start September 2025.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve hot and cold, sweet and savoury food (menu items and daily specials)
- Design and display menus including specials board
- Shop for café supplies
- Oversee all deliveries inwards and outwards
- Manage product pricing, stock control and rotation
- Responsible for HACCP and all related Safety and Health requirements
- Cleaning of café and all related areas
- Assist in coordination and delivery of catering for events such as meetings, conferences and community gatherings
- Liaising with Centre team and manager regarding event catering and planning
- Estimate the costs of ingredients feeding into quotes for events
- Assign tasks to support staff at events
- Manage cash income and till receipts for accounts person
- Liaise with accounts person to ensure all income and expenditure is correctly recorded on the accounting system
- Ensure that all café equipment is kept in good working order reporting any issues to the maintenance person
- Consider feasibility of sale of artisan products from local businesses in the café
- Support team in centre operation as needed
Successful candidates should have:
- Passion for food, hot beverages and keeping abreast of current café trends
- Previous experience in coordinating a food operation, preferably a café, HACCP training or willing to complete
- Cash handling skills
- Understanding of menu pricing and stock control
- Own transport
- Candidates must be hardworking, reliable and trustworthy.
