Shenick Veterinary Hospital in Skerries is proud to offer an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Practitioner to join our well-established, progressive team on a full-time, permanent basis.

We’re looking for a confident vet with solid first-opinion experience who is ready to take the next step. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys general practice or those eager to develop a niche clinical focus over time. Whether your interests lie in internal medicine, surgery, or another pathway, you’ll have the support, case exposure and flexibility to progress towards advanced or referral-level work in the future.
Your day-to-day will include a mix of consultations, case work-ups, routine procedures and surgery, with the time and support needed to work cases to a high standard.
Based primarily in our flagship Skerries hospital, you’ll enjoy access to outstanding facilities, including:
- Multiple fully-equipped operating suites
- Separate dog and cat wards
- On-site hydrotherapy pool with a dedicated rehabilitation team
- Comprehensive in-house diagnostics
You’ll work alongside a skilled and supportive team of GP vets, experienced nurses, and support staff, with additional collaboration across our branch clinics in Balbriggan and Stamullen.
We understand the importance of balance and have created a rota that supports both your professional and personal life:
- 1 in 3 Saturdays (daytime only)
- No out-of-hours or on-call
This structure gives you consistency, predictability, and time to recharge.
- VCI-registered Veterinary Surgeon (essential)
- Proven experience in small animal first-opinion practice
- Confident with routine consultations, medical work-ups and standard surgeries
- A proactive, team-oriented approach with a desire to grow clinically
Please note: this role is not suitable for new graduates or those requiring a high level of mentorship, but could suit a capable junior vet ready to step up.
