Role Overview
The Painting Team Member is responsible for carrying out painting and basic maintenance works across Occu schemes to ensure a consistently high standard of presentation internally and externally.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, proactive site management, and close collaboration with internal teams including Block Management and Property Management to support the upkeep and appearance of our communities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Painting & Surface Preparation
- Maintain interior and exterior painting across all assigned Occu schemes.
- Repaint walls, doors, ceilings, and woodwork as required.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling cracks, and applying primers.
- Use fillers such as putty, caulk, and plaster to repair surfaces prior to painting.
- Mix and match paint, stains, and finishes to ensure a consistent and high-quality finish.
Presentation Standards & Maintenance
- Ensure all schemes are maintained to Occu presentation standards at all times.
- Identify areas requiring maintenance or repair and address proactively.
- Carry out minor maintenance and repair works both internally and externally where required.
- Support the upkeep of common areas to enhance resident experience.
Planning & Coordination
- Liaise with Block Managers and relevant teams to schedule painting and maintenance works.
- Plan work schedules effectively to minimise disruption to residents.
- Ensure work areas are prepared and protected, including covering surrounding surfaces and maintaining clean and safe environments.
Inventory & Equipment Management
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of paint, tools, and materials.
- Ensure safe use, storage, and upkeep of tools and equipment.
- Escalate material or equipment needs in a timely manner.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all health and safety requirements and company policies.
- Ensure safe working practices at all times, including the use of PPE.
- Identify, report, and escalate hazards, incidents, or risks promptly.
- Maintain clean and safe work environments across all sites.
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with residents and internal teams in a professional and respectful manner.
- Support wider operational teams in delivering site readiness for inspections, audits, or projects.
- Represent Occu positively in all interactions on site.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience in a professional painting role (minimum 5 years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of painting techniques, tools, and materials.
- Full clean Category B driving licence.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
- Good communication skills in a resident-facing environment.
Desirable:
- Safe Pass certification.
- Experience working across multiple sites or in residential environments.
- Basic maintenance or handyman experience.
