1. POSITION SUMMARY
The Conference & Banqueting Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Meetings & Events Department, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and strong commercial performance in line with Calusade Hotels standards.
This role leads the delivery of conferences, banquets and events, ensuring full compliance with operational standards while driving revenue, profitability and team performance.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Operations & Guest Experience
- Ensure all meetings and events are delivered in line with client specifications.
- Work closely with Sales and Food & Beverage teams to coordinate events.
- Inspect function rooms prior to events to ensure correct setup and standards.
- Monitor room comfort including lighting, temperature and equipment.
- Ensure readiness for last-minute changes to events.
- Follow up with clients post-event to measure satisfaction and identify improvements.
Commercial & Financial Performance
- Drive Meeting & Events revenue in line with hotel targets.
- Support development and implementation of sales strategies.
- Ensure negotiated rates align with hotel profit objectives.
- Manage banquet equipment and inventory to support operational efficiency.
- Prepare and manage the departmental budget and business plan.
- Analyse financial performance and address variances.
Quality & Standards
- Conduct regular audits of Meetings & Events service and quality.
- Ensure all billing for events is completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain strong knowledge of departmental procedures and equipment.
- Recommend preventative maintenance where required.
- Ensure compliance with licensing and hotel policies.
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, motivate and develop the Meetings & Events team.
- Manage recruitment, training, performance and development processes.
- Promote strong teamwork and interdepartmental collaboration.
- Identify training needs and deliver skills development.
- Support HR processes including coaching, discipline and employee relations.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety and fire procedures.
- Report and mitigate potential hazards promptly.
- Ensure safe working practices across the department.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, appearance and conduct.
- Complete required documentation via Flow and Alkimii where applicable.
Communication & Collaboration
- Maintain effective communication with clients and internal departments.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions.
- Support flexible working to meet business demands.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve departmental efficiency.

3. CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Previous experience managing Meetings & Events or Conference & Banqueting operations in a hotel environment.
- Strong commercial awareness and budget management capability.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent client relationship and communication skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving ability.
- Relevant Food Safety and Health & Safety knowledge desirable.
