Overview:
Our Drivers play a vital role in ensuring the safe, timely, and professional delivery of building materials to our customers and sites. Operating a Class C rigid vehicle, this role involves multi-drop deliveries, vehicle safety checks, customer interaction, and compliance with all transport and health & safety regulations.
Reporting directly to our Yard Manager and working closely with the transport team and yard operatives, the driver is responsible for maintaining excellent service standards while always representing the company in a professional manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivery Operations & Route Management:
- Complete daily deliveries and collections safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Adhere to assigned delivery routes while maintaining flexibility for changing customer and business requirements.
- Ensure excellent route and customer knowledge across assigned delivery areas.
- Carry out multi-drop deliveries in a professional and timely manner.
- Safely transport building materials while ensuring loads are secure and compliant with road safety regulations.
- Assist with the safe loading and unloading of goods both on-site and off-site, ensuring materials are handled correctly and delivered without damage.
- Support yard and warehouse teams with loading customer orders and supplier deliveries when required.
- Ensure all loads are checked for accuracy, stability, and compliance with transport safety regulations prior to departure.
Vehicle Maintenance & Compliance:
- Conduct daily walkaround vehicle inspections and report defects immediately to the Transport Supervisor or relevant manager.
- Maintain vehicles in a clean, roadworthy, and legally compliant condition at all times.
- Operate tachograph systems correctly and maintain accurate driving records.
- Complete all required delivery dockets, PODs (Proofs of Delivery), invoices, and transport paperwork accurately and on time.
- Report any vehicle incidents, damages, or delivery issues promptly.
- Check and report any defects relating to vehicles, loads, or products.
Customer Service & Communication:
- Deliver excellent customer service during all deliveries and collections.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
- Represent the company professionally while on customer sites and public roads.
- Communicate effectively with transport managers, yard staff, and management regarding delivery updates or delays.
Health & Safety:
- Adhere to all company Health & Safety procedures and current legislation.
- Ensure safe loading, unloading, and handling of materials at all times.
- Wear appropriate PPE while carrying out duties.
- Follow all site-specific safety requirements when attending customer locations.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and organised working environment.

Skill and Experience:
Required:
- Full clean Class C driving licence.
- Valid Driver CPC Card and completed CPC training modules.
- Digital Tachograph Card and understanding of tachograph regulations.
- Minimum 1-year professional driving experience.
- Valid Forklift (FLTL/FKLT) certification.
- Strong understanding of road safety and transport compliance.
Highly Desirable:
- HIAB certification and experience.
- Building materials knowledge.
- Experience within a builders’ providers or construction supply environment.
- Knowledge of the Greater Dublin and surrounding delivery areas.
- Previous multi-drop delivery experience.

Experience:
- completing multi-drop deliveries: 1 year (preferred)
- forklifts and/or HIAB equipment: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Class C driving licence, Driver CPC, and Tachograph Card (required)
