Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) is seeking a professional, organised and confident Airside Access Controller to join our Flight Operations team. This is a key operational role responsible for controlling access to restricted airside areas, ensuring compliance with airport security requirements and supporting the safe and efficient operation of one of Ireland's busiest flight training organisations.
AFTA operate a large fleet of Cessna 172, Diamond DA42, Vulcanair P68 & Slingsby aircraft training domestic and international cadets for some of the world’s largest airlines and using the Vulcanair P68 aircraft to support our aerial survey division.
As Airside Access Controller, you will be responsible for controlling and monitoring access to the airport ramp, ensuring that only authorised personnel enter restricted areas and that all airport security procedures are followed.
Responsibilities
- Control access to restricted ramp and airside areas.
- Verify Airside Identity Cards (AICs), Temporary Airside Passes and escort authorisations.
- Maintain accurate airside access records and documentation.
- Administer the Airside Identity Card application process.
- Monitor compliance with escort procedures and access requirements.
- Escort authorised visitors, contractors and students when required.
- Liaise with airport authorities, Airport Police and operational departments.
- Support internal audits, inspections and compliance activities
- Identify and report non-compliance with airside access procedures.
- Provide guidance to staff, students and visitors on airside security requirements.
- Support the Flight Operations team with day-to-day operational activities.
Successful candidate requirements
You will ideally have experience in an airport, aviation, security, operations, compliance or administrative environment and be comfortable working in a role where accuracy, professionalism and attention to detail are essential.

- This role is rostered over 7 days of the week and throughout holidays as the roster runs 364 days of the year and varies according to the season.
