Job Description: Credit Controller

As Credit Controller you will work at our Company headquarters in Ballyhaunis while assisting our multidisciplinary teams in driving operational excellence and success across multiple job sites.
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a driven and detail-oriented Credit Controller to join our dynamic finance team for a temporary contract. In this role, you will take ownership of our debt collection processes, manage the sales ledger, and ensure healthy cash flow while maintaining positive client relationships
The successful candidate will work alongside a team of 4 other experienced finance professionals and play a central role in safeguarding our financial health. You will actively manage accounts receivable, reduce aged debt, and resolve billing queries efficiently, acting as a vital link between our sales, finance, and customer base while maintaining a strong focus on quality and customer focus.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide excellent customer service.
· Daily bank reconciliations and investigate/resolve discrepancies.
· Collaborate with other departments frequently to address customer account related queries.
· Creation of new customer accounts.
· Build and maintain effective key customer relationships through regular contact.
· Track and record all customer contacts and interactions utilising CRM.
· Proactively liaise and engage regularly with customers regarding payments.
· Assess Customer creditworthiness utilising financial data and credit reports.
· Identify potential bad debt risk and escalate as necessary.
· Support the provision and write off process, where required.
· Deal with account queries by phone, email and manage multiple inboxes in a timely manner.
· Oversee and manage customer billing process from end to end.
· Prepare customer remittance and accurately post payments to the Sage system.
· Month end and year end billing utilising Sage and Assetpal.
· Perform ad hoc duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience required:
· Negotiation: Ability to secure customer commitments, and establish realistic payment plans while preserving customer relationships.
· Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills for professional correspondence via phone, email, and formal letters.
· Analytical Capability: Competence in reviewing debtor ledgers, aging reports, and assessing customer credit risk.
· IT, Software and Systems Proficiency: Experience using Sage, Fresh Desk and CRM is a distinct advantage but no essential.
· Attention to Detail: Precision in processing cash allocations, raising credit notes, and logging customer interactions.
· Problem-Solving: Aptitude for investigating root causes behind invoice queries and ledger discrepancies.
· Work History: Minimum of 2 years of proven hands-on experience in a dedicated credit control, accounts receivable, or finance operations role.
· Education: Finance/Commerce or related field Diploma/Degree as a baseline and a relevant qualification or progress toward a credential from a professional body (such as the Irish Institute of Credit Management or CICM) is considered a strong advantage.
