Reporting to the Technology Risk Senior Manager, this is a key role within the first line European Technology Risk Management Team which is part of the Office of the CIO, Europe (OCIO). This role will lead 1LOD co-ordination of European Technology Issues and Policy Exceptions activities in line with parent group (Lifeco) Policy, providing specialist support and guidance to ensure effective and efficient identification, logging, prioritising, tracking, and resolving of technology issues that affect services, projects, or business operations. The role ensures that issues are managed efficiently from detection to closure, minimising impact on customers and stakeholders and preventing reoccurrence where possible.
The role will involve senior relationship and stakeholder management across multiple lines of business in Europe and Lifeco.
What you will help us to achieve
- Lead the implementation of the new issues management and policy exceptions process across the continual Central Technology Services and the European Technology Business Segments.
- Maintain and improve the issues management and policy exceptions management process both from a system perspective and process perspective, risk assessment and disseminate feedback as appropriate.
Oversee 1LOD management of issues and policy exceptions process and ensure clear and transparent monitoring and reporting is provided to the relevant stakeholders. Manage expectations and negotiate priorities when necessary.
- Actively collaborate with the other areas within the European Technology Risk Management team to ensure the issues and policy exceptions processes and ways of working continue to work in synergy.
- Be the primary point of contact for the Lines of Business to provide guidance, instruction, training and advice.
- Support development of remediation plans to ensure management of identified risk in line with agree risk appetite.
- Act as a role model and support the broader leadership activities developing the ‘brand’ and act as a member of a highly engaged team recognised for its diligence, subject matter expertise and excellence in delivery.
What you will need to be successful in the role
- Ideally educated to a degree level.
- Demonstrated experience in technology risk with supporting qualifications.
- Experience in issue/incident management, service management, project management or operations.
- Familiarity with issue tracking tools, e.g. ServiceNow, Jira or similar.
- Understanding of ITIL or similar service management frameworks is an advantage
- Industry specific knowledge, e.g. working in financial institutions in Europe or Canada with practical experience of implementing or managing to technology and cyber regulatory expectations.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to stay calm and structured under pressure.
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Conflict resolution and facilitation skills
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Stakeholder management and negotiations.
