What’s the role?
We are looking for a detail-oriented Customs Clearance Agent to manage the end-to-end customs declaration process for import and export shipments. The successful candidate will ensure full compliance with Irish and EU customs regulations while delivering a fast, accurate clearance service to our clients.
What will my day too day look like?
- Prepare and submit customs declarations (import, export, transit) via Irish Revenue's AIS/AEP systems
- Classify goods accurately using the Harmonised System (HS) and apply correct tariff codes
- Calculate and verify duties, VAT, and other charges due at import
- Manage documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and licences
- Handle customs procedures such as postponed VAT accounting, etc
- Liaise with Irish Revenue, port/airport authorities, and other customs bodies to resolve queries or holds
- Monitor shipments for compliance issues and proactively flag risks to clients and management
- Maintain accurate records to support audits and AEO compliance requirements
- Build strong working relationships with clients, hauliers, and carriers to ensure smooth clearance
- Stay current on changes to customs legislation, Incoterms, and trade regulations affecting clients
What do I need?
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a customs clearance, freight forwarding, or trade compliance role
- Strong working knowledge of Irish/EU customs procedures and documentation
- Experience using customs software (e.g. AIS/AEP, or equivalent clearance platforms)
- Solid understanding of Incoterms, HS classification, and import/export documentation
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple shipments under time pressure
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel in particular)
Pay: €40,000.00-€45,000.00 per year
