Hartley People Recruitment are hiring for an Estimator/Quantity Surveyor for our client in Waterford
With continued growth, our client is seeking to recruit an Estimator/Quantity Surveyor for their head office in Waterford.
The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience with a main contractor and will assist our professional team on all costs related to building and civil aspects of various projects, including mixed commercial, residential, industrial, and educational, from the initial concept design stage estimate to final account settlement. T
he successful candidate must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and able to take ownership and responsibility of the estimating department.
Responsibilities Include:
- Take responsibility for the estimating/QS department and assist in its growth.
- Oversee post-tender and pre-contract activities and help identify and prepare commercial targets for projects.
- Manage the sourcing and appointment of sub-contractors, attend planning meetings, handle documentation and schedules, deal with applications, variation schedules, measurement, accounting and payment schedules, and all contractual correspondence through to final accounts.
- Develop project valuations and progress reports.
- Report to senior management on project progression.
- Involve in cost plans, tracking labour costs and efficiency throughout projects.
- Maintain and control project profitability through high-standard cost reporting.
- Evolve procurement standards and procedures.
- Ensure timely completion of estimates.
- Help manage bid pricing and prepare cost analysis.
Requirements Include:
- Hold a third-level construction-related qualification.
- Have a minimum of 5 years post-qualification construction experience with a main contractor.
- Previous experience within a similar role in Ireland or the UK.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Excel, Buildsoft, Cubit, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
- Excellent communication, written, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Organized, good presentation of work, and ability to multitask in an evolving environment.
