Hours: ROLE 1 : Monday to Friday, 1:45pm – 5:45pm daily /ROLE 2 : Monday to Friday, 8:45pm – 5:45pm daily
Contract Options: 38 weeks (school term only) or 51 weeks (full year) available for the ideal candidate
Danesfort Childcare is seeking an enthusiastic and caring School Age Care (SAC) Educator to join our team and support children attending our after-school programme.
This role involves providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for school-age children, supporting their development, wellbeing, and interests through quality play experiences and activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Collecting children from school and safely walking them to Danesfort Childcare (5 minute walk )
- Supporting children during the transition from school to after-school care
- Providing a warm, welcoming, and inclusive SAC environment
- Planning and delivering age-appropriate activities, including creative play, outdoor activities, games, and child-led experiences
- Supporting children with homework and daily routines
- Building positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
- Ensuring children’s safety, supervision, and wellbeing at all times
- Following Tusla regulations, childcare policies, and SAC best practice guidelines
- Maintaining accurate records and supporting the daily running of the service
Essential Requirements:
- A genuine interest in working with school-age children
- Experience working in childcare, education, or a similar setting
- Knowledge of School Age Care practices and responsibilities
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- A commitment to providing high-quality care and positive experiences for children
Desirable:
- Relevant childcare qualification (minimum Level 5 or working towards same)
- Experience in an SAC setting
- Knowledge of children’s development and play-based learning
Pay & Conditions:
- Salary in line with current Early Years Recognised Occupation (ERO) rates:
- Option of a 38-week school-year contract or a 51-week contract for the ideal candidate
