HGV/Plant Mechanic
We are seeking a skilled HGV/Plant Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), trailers, and plant machinery, ensuring compliance with safety standards
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, servicing, and repairs on HGVs, trailers, trucks, plant equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders), and associated systems including engines, hydraulics, gearboxes, electrics, and brakes.
- Conduct diagnostic tests using specialized tools and computer equipment; diagnose faults, dismantle, repair/replace components, and reassemble for testing.
- Prepare vehicles and equipment for CVRT/12 week inspections.
- Respond to breakdowns, attend call-outs, and perform on-site or roadside repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of work, parts used, and services.
- Ensure workshop cleanliness, safety, and housekeeping.
- Comply with health & safety policies, report incidents, and promote a proactive safety culture.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an HGV/Plant Mechanic or Newly qualified apprentice with knowledge of mixed fleets (HGVs, trailers, plant machinery).
- Experience with diagnostic tools, hand/power tools, welding, and lifting gear.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team.
- Full clean driving license; willingness for flexible hours including call-outs.
- Must be already living in Ireland
