We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our small, dynamic team. This a 6 months fixed term position which focuses primarily on payroll processing with a solid understanding of HR basics, alongside general administrative and accounting support. The role is ideal for someone with payroll and general finance experience who enjoys a varied workload in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Payroll and Roster submittals.
- Process payroll using BrightPay (or similar payroll software) and maintain accurate employee records
- Updating Bright HR system
- Use Xero for accounting tasks such as bank reconciliations, expense processing, invoicing support, and basic bookkeeping
- Support HR administration, including employee onboarding/offboarding, holiday tracking, absence management, and basic HR queries
- Handle general admin duties such as filing, data entry, pension scheme, document preparation, and assisting with month-end procedures
- Ensure all processes comply with relevant employment and tax regulations
- Provide accurate and timely support to the team as required
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in payroll processing and administration (essential)
- Good working knowledge of Xero accounting software
- Good basic understanding of HR processes and employment legislation
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality when handling sensitive data
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Desirable
- Previous experience in a Finace/HR support role
- Knowledge of Irish payroll/HR compliance
- Hands-on experience with BrightPay and BrightHR (or very similar systems such as Sage Payroll, PayCircle, or other cloud-based payroll/HR tools)
