Purpose of Role
The Area Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for supervising cleaning staff across multiple client sites, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, health & safety compliance, client satisfaction, and staff performance. The role involves regular site visits, inspections, staff training, quality audits, and providing cover when required.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Management
- Supervise and support cleaning operatives across multiple sites.
- Carry out regular site inspections and quality audits.
- Train new staff and provide ongoing coaching.
- Manage staff attendance, timekeeping, annual leave, and absence reporting.
- Organise cover for holidays and sick leave.
- Conduct staff performance reviews.
Quality Control
- Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed to company and client specifications.
- Complete weekly and monthly quality audits.
- Investigate and resolve client complaints promptly.
- Ensure all cleaning records and checklists are completed correctly.
- Monitor KPI performance on contracts.
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
- Conduct toolbox talks and site safety inspections.
- Ensure correct use of PPE, chemicals, and equipment.
- Report accidents, hazards, and maintenance issues.
Client Relations
- Act as the first point of contact for clients.
- Carry out regular client meetings and satisfaction checks.
- Respond quickly to service issues and requests.
- Identify opportunities for additional services.
Operational Duties
- Order and monitor cleaning supplies.
- Maintain company equipment and vehicles.
- Provide cleaning cover when required.
- Assist with deep cleans, floor maintenance, and specialist cleaning projects.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in commercial cleaning.
- Full clean Irish driving licence.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Experience managing multiple sites.
- Knowledge of COSHH, infection control, and Health & Safety procedures.
- Ability to use mobile apps and reporting systems.
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends.
Desirable
- Experience in healthcare cleaning and public sector contracts.
