Main purpose of this role
Garlanna is excited to be recruiting an enthusiastic Warehouse Operative to join our team. This is a key support role within the Warehouse Team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a market-leading company and contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of our warehouse, ensuring stock is processed accurately and delivered on time to over 800 retail locations.
The Warehouse Operative is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of stock through the Garlanna Warehouse and onward to the retail estate it serves. Duties include loading and unloading goods, breaking down palletised stock, putting away items in correct locations, and maintaining a clean and organised working environment.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, organised, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The role is based at Garlanna Head Office Warehouse and reports directly to the Warehouse Manager. Some flexibility may be required to support business needs.
Hours of Work:
Monday – Thursday 09.00am – 5.30pm
Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm
Key Responsibilities
Receiving & Goods In
To ensure stock is available for over 800 retail locations, the Warehouse Operative will ensure goods are accurately received, checked, and stored correctly.
Tasks Include:
- Breaking down palletised stock and removing outer packaging
- Checking bin locations and accurately putting stock away
- Checking deliveries against goods-in documentation
- Reporting discrepancies or issues to line management
- Supporting production and ad hoc warehouse tasks
- Working efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Stock Management
Ensuring all stock is organised, accessible, and accurately maintained to support customer availability.
Duties include:
- Assisting with stock counts when required
- Identifying and isolating damaged or faulty stock for disposal or recycling
- Replenishing pick bins from bulk storage
- Removing packaging waste and maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Supporting efficient stock flow and handling procedures
- Ad hoc warehouse duties as required
- Occasional delivery or collection of stock from field locations
Yard Operations
Ensuring safe movement of stock, vehicles, and personnel within the yard area.
Duties include:
- Following company procedures to ensure safe movement of vehicles and people
- Communicating site safety rules to visiting drivers
- Maintaining good housekeeping standards in yard areas
- Communicating any issues or incidents to management promptly
- Completing end-of-shift handovers where required
Picking Support (as required)
Supporting warehouse picking operations during peak periods or business needs.
Duties include:
- Accurately picking stock using design codes
- Preparing orders for dispatch
- Ensuring correct labelling and placement of stock for distribution
Skills & Experience RequiredEssential:
- Flexible with a positive attitude toward work and the working environment
- Reliable, efficient, and able to work in a fast-paced setting
- Self-motivated with the ability to use initiative and work independently
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational and time management abilities
- Able to work well both independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
- Previous experience in warehouse operations
- Forklift Truck (FLT) licence/training
- Clean driving licence
