Duties include:
Work with piping (cutting / welding / fitting) and miscellaneous parts as well as the production of custom structural steel fabrications
Read and interpret specifications, drawings, manuals etc
Fitting, fabricating and welding metal and structural components
Stick welding
Cut, drill, bevel, file and grind metal parts to ensure proper fit-up for welding or bolting
Lay-out, position, and align parts and assemblies prior to welding or bolting
Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, bolt parts to obtain required configurations and positons for welding
Installation and maintenance of rotary seals and piping supports, piping shoes, insulaton.
Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as wheel & die grinder or similar
Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces using measuring tools and jigs
Pneumatic / Hydro-testing of piping if required
Good knowledge of insulation techniques including lagging / cladding
Oiling and cleaning machinery and parts.
Maintain organization's equipment to a high standard
Commitment to maximising value and safety.
Operation of process (both pilot plant and commercial plant) and documentation of various activities (good record keeping capability)
Sound knowledge of various technical systems (mechanical, electrical, fitting, thermal systems, PLC control systems etc)
Safety mindset and willingness to develop SOPs, train others as required
Commission, Troubleshoot and Repair minor equipment issues as required (electrical / mechanical)
Recommend and implement improvement ideas to enhance equipment operation or business performance
Preparation of materials for processing and stocking of processed materials
Perform tests, sampling and run process with oversight to ensure process is running smoothly, responding to alarms or issues as required
Maintain good general housekeeping, cleaning and record keeping / labelling
A valid forklift counterbalance licence or experience of driving a forklift is required for this role
Complete daily / weekly / monthly checks
Loading and Unloading of feed and product
Monitoring of plant processes, and initiating a start-up / shut-down activities.
Develop a deep knowledge of the plant equipment and processes, interlocks, control features etc
Establish preventative maintenance schedules
Maximise output by operating efficiently and minimising waste, maximising throughput / speed
Perform all work in conformance to Health, Safety and Environmental regulations
Must be able to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
Ideally, proficient with hand tools and tools of relevant trade
Perform routine assignments as directed.
Perform regular cleaning and routine maintenance of plant
Act as front of office point of contact as required – dealing with occasional visitors, and delivery management
Promote the business where feasible and be cognisant of commercial opportunities and cost saving measures, safety / productivity improvements etc
Take full control and responsibility of minor modifications, small to medium sized projects, as agreed etc
