Childcare Minds – Pugwash Bay, Knockbridge are currently seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and experienced AIM Support Assistant to join our amazing Early Years team.
This role is based on the Access and Inclusion Model (AIM), which is a strength-based support model designed to promote participation, inclusion, and engagement for children within the Early Years environment. This is not an SNA role.
About the Role
The AIM Support Assistant role is specifically tailored to meet the individual needs of the child and will adapt on an ongoing basis to ensure the child receives the most appropriate support within the setting.
The successful candidate will work closely with the child’s Key Worker, parents, and management team to support the child’s inclusion, participation, and overall wellbeing within the classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and supervise the child where required throughout the day
- Encourage and promote the child’s inclusion in daily routines, activities, and group play
- Support positive peer interactions and social/emotional development
- Assist with planning and implementing activities tailored to the child’s individual needs
- Participate in classroom activities and support overall room routines where appropriate
- Work collaboratively with the childcare team to support inclusive practice within the setting
- Attend weekly planning and feedback meetings with the child’s Key Worker
- Maintain positive and professional communication with parents and team members
- Assist with the general running of the classroom when required
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum QQI/FETAC Level 5 qualification in Childcare or Early Years Education
- Previous experience working in a childcare setting essential
- Experience supporting children with additional needs is highly desirable
- Children First Certificate (desirable)
- Excellent communication skills
- Garda Vetting required
- International Police Clearance required for candidates who have lived outside Ireland for more than 6 months
