The Colas Group operates internationally in all aspects of transport infrastructure. As part of the global organisation, Colas Ireland is primarily involved the distribution of bitumen products, emulsion and emulsifier manufacturing, and the provision of specialist road maintenance services on the national, regional and local road network. In Ireland Colas operates from 14 locations across the island of Ireland.
Purpose of the Role
The Global Technical Sales Manager will lead Chemoran’s global technical sales and commercial activities, driving growth, profitability and customer retention across Colas Group and external markets. This role combines strategic sales leadership, technical expertise and customer engagement to expand market share and secure new business.
Main Responsibilities
You will develop and implement the global sales strategy and business plan, meeting sales, margin and market share targets. Leading and coaching the sales team, you will build strong relationships with key customers and distributors, identify product needs and promote Chemoran solutions. Regular customer visits, pricing proposals and contract negotiations will be key parts of your role. You will also participate in sales meetings and technical conferences.
On the technical side, you will understand customer needs, support product trials and liaise with R&D and technical teams to drive innovation and performance. You will handle customer orders, logistics and resolve any quality or invoicing issues promptly. Organising customer visits to manufacturing facilities will also be part of your responsibilities.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of emulsifiers, adhesion agents and additives for bituminous materials, with a strong commercial skillset and understanding of relevant regulations. Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. You should be customer-focused, decisive, results-oriented and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. The role requires availability for international travel (40–50%).A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field is required. Experience in specialty chemicals, bitumen additives or asphalt technologies is highly desirable, with a proven track record in technical sales and commercial leadership at a global level.
