Part Time Chef
Location: Ballintubbert Gardens and House
About the Role
Ballintubbert Gardens and House is seeking a Part Time Chef to join our dynamic team. Creativity is highly encouraged and we want our new team member to have the right attitude and skill to contribute to our wonderful events. The initial scope of work is breakfasts and casual dining for events held on the property and wedding day 2 service, with the possibility of additional hours and responsibilities as business needs grow.
Given the nature of event-based catering, the successful candidate must be flexible with their availability, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required by the events calendar.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation and cooking of food for breakfasts, BBQs, and woodfired pizzas at events
- Ordering and managing supplies to ensure adequate stock for scheduled events
- Cleaning and tidying of the kitchen before, during, and after service
- Management, care, and basic maintenance of kitchen equipment
- Ensuring food is prepared and presented to a high standard for guests
- Adhering to food safety, hygiene, and allergen regulations at all times
- Monitoring stock levels and minimising food waste
- Liaising with event coordinators/management regarding menus, guest numbers, and dietary requirements
- Maintaining a safe and organised kitchen environment in line with health and safety standards
Requirements
- Experience working as a chef
- Relevant food hygiene certification (e.g. HACCP)
- Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen cleanliness standards
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively during busy events
- Good organisational skills, particularly around stock ordering and inventory management
- Flexibility to work variable hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends depending on the event schedule
- A positive, can-do attitude and ability to remain calm under pressure during events
- Own transport is essential
