General Operative – Solar Farm Construction Project Position Title
Reports To: Site Supervisor / Construction Manager / Site Manager
Location: North/Mid Wexford County
Position Summary
The General Operative supports the safe and efficient construction of utility-scale solar farm projects by carrying out a variety of site-based tasks. The role involves assisting with civil, mechanical, and electrical installation activities, maintaining site housekeeping standards, handling materials and equipment, and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with project safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesConstruction Support
- Assist with the installation of solar PV mounting structures, modules, and associated equipment.
- Support civil works including fencing, cable trenching, duct installation, and site preparation activities.
- Assist electrical teams with cable pulling, cable management, and general installation activities under supervision.
- Load, unload, move, and store construction materials and equipment safely.
- Operate hand tools and small plant equipment where trained and authorised.
- Assist with the erection of temporary site facilities and welfare areas.
Site Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area at all times.
- Remove waste materials and dispose of them in accordance with site environmental procedures.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are stored correctly after use.
- Support site logistics and material distribution activities.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Comply with all project Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
- Attend daily briefings, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
- Wear and maintain required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Report hazards, near misses, unsafe acts, and incidents immediately.
- Support the promotion of a positive safety culture on site.
Quality & Productivity
- Carry out tasks in accordance with project procedures and supervisor instructions.
- Ensure work is completed to the required quality standards.
- Report defects, damaged materials, or quality concerns to supervisors.
- Assist in achieving project productivity and programme targets.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in construction, utilities, renewable energy, civil engineering, or similar site-based environments is desirable but not essential.
- Experience working on solar farm or infrastructure projects would be an advantage.
- Valid Safe Pass certification.
- Manual Handling certification.
- Full driving licence desirable but not essential.

Pay: €13.50-€20.00 per hour
