Requirements:
Be registered on the general division of the register of nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery
Board of Ireland
Have at least 5 years post registration experience ideally in a cardiology unit, CCU or cardiac catherisation
laboratory.
Have a minimum of 2 years management experience in a cardiology unit/dept setting
Have completed a management training programme
Have proven clinical and professional ability
Have good IT skills with proficiency in the use of all relevant applications.
Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work on his/her own initiative.
Have exceptional communication & leadership skills with the ability to positively engage with patients and staff.
Be enthusiastic and highly motivated.
Have a proven ability to work under pressure.
Have an ability to deal with staff at all levels within the organisation.
Knowledge of accreditation process and other national quality initiatives.
It is desirable that the candidate has:
Qualification to Degree level or higher within the speciality
The ability to analyse, report on and effect change in nursing practice.
A sound knowledge of procedures and protocols in operational matters.
Evidence of post registration professional development.
ACLS Qualification
The ability to anticipate trends, identifies opportunities and forward plans for service developments.
Knowledge of clinical risk management from investigation to reporting and documentation of adverse
incidents.
