About Freedom Fitness:
Freedom Fitness is a small group strength and fitness gym like no other. We coach adults, teenagers, children and new mums in a welcoming, non-intimidating and inclusive environment.
Our philosophy is simple: Lift Strong, Live Free.
We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we take what we do extremely seriously. Our sessions are about much more than delivering a workout. We want every person who walks through our doors to feel comfortable, supported and capable, regardless of their age, experience or starting point.
Creating that environment is non-negotiable. If you genuinely care about people and want to help them develop their strength, confidence and overall health, we would love to hear from you.
The Role:
We are looking for a kind, energetic and adaptable part-time Strength and Fitness Coach to join our team.
This is a hands-on coaching role for someone who enjoys working with a wide variety of people. You will coach small group strength and fitness sessions for adults, alongside sessions for our youth members and postnatal clients.
We expect the regular schedule to build to approximately 8–14 hours per week, with opportunities to work additional hours when other coaches are taking holidays or time off.
We are beginning the recruitment process early so that the successful candidate can complete a structured onboarding, shadowing and in-house training period from late September. Our goal is to have them fully comfortable with our members, programmes and coaching standards before taking on a more regular schedule later in the autumn.
We hope to find someone who wants to become a long-term and valued part of our coaching team.
Availability:
This role will suit someone who wants a varied part-time coaching schedule and can offer genuine flexibility.
Available shifts may include:
- Early weekday mornings, beginning at 6:00 am.
- Weekday afternoons and evenings.
- Friday afternoons and evenings.
- Occasional Saturday or additional holiday cover.
Most weeks will involve approximately 8–14 hours, but the ability and willingness to cover additional shifts during staff holidays and other planned time off is an important part of the role.
You will not need to be available for every possible shift. However, applicants should clearly outline their availability when applying, particularly for early mornings, Friday evenings and occasional weekend cover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver small group strength and fitness sessions with enthusiasm, care and professionalism.
- Coach adult members of different ages, abilities and levels of experience.
- Coach youth gym sessions for children and teenagers aged 7–17.
- Support the delivery of our postnatal strength and fitness programme.
- Adapt exercises and coaching approaches to suit individual needs.
- Build positive relationships with members and contribute to our supportive community.
- Assist with resetting, cleaning and maintaining the gym so it remains safe and welcoming.
- Participate in team training and professional development.
- Work collaboratively with the wider coaching team to provide a consistent member experience.
- Provide occasional cover for other coaches during holidays and planned time off.
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a recognised qualification that permits them to work as a fitness instructor, personal trainer or strength and fitness coach.
The following would be particularly beneficial:
- A degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education or a related field.
- A recognised pre- and postnatal exercise qualification.
- Experience or qualifications in youth fitness or strength and conditioning.
- A Mat Pilates qualification.
- Previous experience coaching in a gym or group environment.
A pre- and postnatal qualification is highly desirable but is not essential for the right candidate. We can provide substantial in-house training, and there may be an opportunity to complete a certified qualification with our support, subject to agreed terms and conditions.
Applicants must be willing and enthusiastic about coaching both our youth and postnatal programmes.
Skills & Attributes:
The right person will be:
- Confident and competent with barbell, dumbbell and kettlebell training.
- Kind, approachable and genuinely interested in helping people.
- Comfortable working with both adults and young people.
- Interested in women’s health and coaching women through different life stages.
- Reliable and able to offer flexibility around their agreed schedule.
- Able to think on their feet and adapt exercises or sessions when needed.
- A clear and encouraging communicator.
- A positive role model for our younger members.
- Comfortable receiving feedback and following established programmes and coaching standards.
- Keen to learn, develop and grow within the fitness industry.
- A team player who contributes positively both on and off the gym floor.
Previous coaching experience is preferred, but we are equally interested in finding someone with the right personality, values and willingness to learn.
The successful candidate will be required to complete Garda Vetting and any necessary safeguarding training before coaching our youth sessions independently.
