Job Purpose
The purpose of the role is to support the delivery of high-quality environmental projects by assisting with research, data collection, technical reporting and project administration under the guidance of senior team members. The role provides an opportunity to develop core technical skills in environmental assessment, planning and compliance while contributing to effective project delivery and client service.
The Level 1 Consultant will work as part of the EIA team, supporting colleagues across a range of environmental projects and gradually building confidence in technical report writing, project coordination, stakeholder communication and professional consultancy practice.
Position Overview
As a Level 1 Consultant, you will support the delivery of environmental projects across sectors such as residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure development. Working within a multidisciplinary Environmental Team, you will assist with the preparation of screening reports, scoping inputs, EIAR sections, technical notes and supporting assessments, while developing your technical knowledge and consultancy skills through supervised project work.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with the delivery of environmental projects, including supporting inputs to EIA Screenings, EIARs, CEMPs and related environmental assessments.
Support the preparation of technical reports, figures, appendices and other project deliverables under supervision.
Carry out baseline research, data review, site visit preparation and environmental information gathering to support project teams.
Assist with project coordination tasks, including maintaining trackers, organising project information and supporting timely delivery of agreed tasks.
Support communication with internal project teams, sub-consultants and external stakeholders as required.
Contribute to fee proposals, project administration and quality assurance processes where appropriate.
Essential Requirements
You will have the following requirements:
Relevant experience, placement experience or demonstrable interest in environmental consultancy, environmental assessment, planning or a related field.
Have an understanding the environmental assessment processes, with an interest in developing experience in EIA Screenings, EIARs and supporting environmental reports.
Have a minimum BSc or degree in environmental science or related discipline.
Have good organisational skills, self-motivation and willingness to learn from senior colleagues.
Strong attention to detail, with good report-writing and written and verbal communication skills.
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to seek guidance when required.
Ability to work to deadlines, manage assigned tasks and adapt to evolving project requirements.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Basic commercial awareness, including an understanding of project budgets, time recording and the importance of delivering work efficiently.
Ability to understand task instructions, ask questions where required and deliver work in line with agreed project scope and timelines.
Follow all health and safety policies and procedures of both the company and its clients.
Full clean driving licence.
