Bishopsisland Plant Hire & Groundworks Ltd are seeking 4 experienced and skilled Masons to join our construction team at Bishopsisland, Watergrasshill, Co. Cork. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out masonry and bricklaying work on residential, commercial and civil construction projects.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications.
- Set out walls, foundations and other masonry structures accurately.
- Lay bricks, blocks, concrete blocks, stone and other masonry materials.
- Prepare and mix mortar, concrete and other materials as required.
- Construct and repair walls, partitions, foundations and other structures.
- Measure, cut and shape bricks, blocks and other masonry materials.
- Ensure walls and structures are level, plumb and correctly aligned.
- Carry out pointing, jointing, rendering and finishing work.
- Install masonry around doors, windows and other structural openings.
- Carry out repair, restoration and maintenance of existing masonry structures.
- Use hand tools, power tools, levels, measuring equipment and other construction equipment safely.
- Work from scaffolding, ladders and other approved access equipment where required.
- Follow construction drawings, site instructions and health and safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe working area.
- Work effectively with other trades and construction workers on site.
- Report any defects, material shortages or construction issues to the site supervisor.
- Comply with all company procedures, site rules and Irish health and safety regulations.
Required Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working as a Mason/Bricklayer.
- Good knowledge of bricklaying, block laying and masonry construction.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
- Ability to accurately measure, set out and level masonry work.
- Good practical and manual skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team.
- Knowledge of construction site health and safety procedures.
- Relevant construction qualification or substantial relevant experience is desirable.
Personal Requirements
The successful candidate should be reliable, physically capable of carrying out construction work, safety-conscious and able to work efficiently to construction schedules and quality standards.
