Job Description
We are looking for compassionate, reliable and caring Healthcare Assistants / Care Assistants to join our team in Ireland.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to elderly people, vulnerable adults and individuals with physical, intellectual or additional support needs.
You will work closely with nurses, healthcare professionals and other members of the care team to ensure that each service user receives safe, respectful and professional care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities.
- Assist service users with bathing, showering, dressing and personal hygiene.
- Support clients with eating, drinking and meal preparation.
- Assist with mobility, transfers and safe moving and handling.
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Encourage independence, dignity and choice.
- Monitor and report changes in a service user's physical, emotional or mental condition.
- Maintain accurate daily care records and documentation.
- Follow individual care plans and organisational policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy and dignity of service users.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures.
- Report safeguarding concerns or incidents to the appropriate manager.
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
- Attend required training and maintain mandatory training requirements.
- Carry out all duties in accordance with HIQA standards and relevant Irish healthcare regulations.
Requirements
- QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support qualification or equivalent is preferred/required depending on the position.
- Previous experience in healthcare, nursing homes, home care or a similar caring role is an advantage.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient and respectful attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to undertake physical duties, including assisting with mobility and moving service users safely.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
- Garda vetting will be required before employment.
- References may be required.
Desirable
- Experience working with older people or vulnerable adults.
- Experience with dementia care.
- Experience in residential or community care.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
- Manual handling training.
- Infection prevention and control training.
- Full driving licence for community/home-care positions.
