Hartley People Recruitment are hiring on behalf of our client in the manufacturing sector for a Product Manager to join their Commercial team in Kilkenny.
This is a hybrid role. If based in Ireland, you must be able to work on-site in Kilkenny three days per week (including either Monday or Friday). If UK based, you must be available to travel to Kilkenny once or twice per month. A full driving licence and own vehicle are required.
Reporting into the Commercial function, you will play a key role across product, category, and cross-functional teams. You will take ownership of product performance, support new product development, manage tender projects, and drive commercial insight across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Product Expertise & Market Intelligence
- Develop deep knowledge across the full product range including design, features,
- pricing, and routes to market
- Benchmark competitor products and identify gaps, strengths, and opportunities
- Provide market insights to support commercial positioning and product evolution
Commercial Performance & Analysis
- Analyse unit sales, revenue, and margin performance across categories
- Use data to support pricing strategy, portfolio decisions, and commercial planning
- Conduct breakeven and margin analysis to guide pricing adjustments
New Product Development & Portfolio Management
- Support new product projects from concept through to launch
- Contribute to business cases, positioning, competitor insight, and go-to-market plans
- Review product lifecycle performance and recommend range optimisation
Tender & OEM Project Management
- Take ownership of key tender submissions and OEM proposals
- Coordinate bespoke product development projects from proposal to launch
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and customers to ensure successful delivery
Customer & Market Engagement
- Gather customer and market feedback through trade visits and networking
- Translate voice-of-customer insights into clear product requirements
- Represent the business at trade events and industry exhibitions
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Maintain customer pricing files, listings, and discount structures
- Work closely with sales and commercial teams on pricing and range updates
- Communicate technical and commercial information clearly to varied audiences
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience in product management or category management
- Strong commercial and numerical ability with experience in pricing and margin analysis
- Confident using Excel for data analysis and interpretation
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
- Experience in consumer durables, building products, or trade-focused industries is advantageous
- Degree in Business, Management, or related discipline desirable
