As we continue to grow and invest in our future, we are seeking an ambitious and capable Accounts Assistant / Part-Qualified Accountant to join our finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated accounting professional who is looking to broaden their experience in a fast-paced commercial environment while continuing their professional development. The successful candidate will gain exposure to all aspects of dealership accounting and work closely with an experienced finance team.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be involved in the day-to-day financial operations of the business, taking ownership of key accounting functions while supporting the wider finance department.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable / Credit Control
- Managing daily cash handling, receipts, and banking activities
- Preparing daily cash reconciliations and lodgements
- Recording and allocating customer payments
- Reconciling debtor accounts and resolving discrepancies
- Assisting with credit control activities and overdue account management
- Managing customer account queries in a professional and timely manner
Accounts Payable
- Processing supplier invoices accurately and efficiently
- Ensuring invoices are correctly authorised and coded
- Maintaining accurate creditor account records
- Processing supplier payments within agreed payment terms
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving account queries
- Managing petty cash transactions and controls
Financial Administration
- Assisting with monthly reconciliations and reporting requirements
- Supporting month-end finance processes
- Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
- Assisting with audits and compliance requirements
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls
Additional Duties
- Assist with vehicle administration within the organisation (full training provided).
- Support ad hoc finance projects and administrative tasks as required.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who combines strong accounting fundamentals with a proactive and positive approach.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Administrator, Bookkeeper, or similar accounting role or Part-qualified Accounting Technician, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA or currently pursuing a professional accounting qualification
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Experience within the motor industry or retail sector
- Experience with dealer management or accounting systems
- Previous exposure to month-end accounting processes
