Salary: €48,000 – €54,000 salary (inclusive of shift premium where applicable)
Basic rate €40,000- €45,000 for standard days, where no premia applies.
Key Requirements
- Degree (Level 7 or equivalent) in Engineering or Technical Science
- Previous manufacturing engineering experience, ideally within a medical device or regulated environment
- Strong understanding of ISO, FDA, GMP, and quality management systems
- Experience supporting manufacturing, validation, and continuous improvement processes
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and lead problem-solving activities
- Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional teamwork skills
- Process Validation and PLC Programming experience advantageous
The Role
Reporting to the Plant Manager or designated representative, the Engineering Technician will play a key role in supporting and improving manufacturing and validation processes while ensuring compliance with company Quality, HR, and Occupational Health & Safety management systems.
This position is responsible for developing, optimising, and maintaining manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, product quality, and operational performance within a regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities: Manufacturing & Process Engineering
- Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes by analysing product and operational requirements
- Research, design, modify, and test manufacturing methods, tooling, and equipment
- Analyse workflow, space utilisation, and equipment layouts to improve manufacturing efficiency
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cost reduction
- Identify and implement labour, material, and process cost-saving opportunities
Validation & Quality
- Support product and process validation activities within a regulated manufacturing environment
- Design and implement testing methods to ensure product and process quality standards are achieved
- Ensure compliance with ISO, FDA, GMP, and internal quality standards
- Participate in audits, inspections, and customer reviews as required
- Maintain accurate technical documentation including SOPs, validation protocols, engineering calculations, technical reports, safety programmes, and change controls
Technical Support & Maintenance
- Lead technical troubleshooting and fault-finding activities to minimise downtime and improve performance
- Coordinate maintenance and repair activities in line with manufacturer guidelines and company procedures
- Work closely with production teams and third-party contractors to support operational requirements
- Provide technical guidance and support to manufacturing teams
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work as part of a cross-functional team to ensure customer requirements are consistently achieved and exceeded
- Promote a positive culture focused on quality, customer satisfaction, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Demonstrate flexibility in supporting changing business and production needs
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Degree qualification in Engineering or Technical Science
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding ability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives
- Strong understanding of regulated manufacturing environments and validation processes
Desirable
- 5+ years’ experience within medical manufacturing or a similarly regulated industry
- Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies
- PLC Programming experience
- Process Validation experience
