Medical Scientist
Specific Purpose 35 Hours per Week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Scientist (Mult-disciplinary Laboratory) to join the Bon Secours Health System Hospital Galway, Ireland’s Largest Private Healthcare provider.
Job Purpose:
To participate as a Medical Scientist, in providing a high quality and efficient laboratory service to Consultants, Doctors and their patients within the hospital.
The Pathology Department is a comprehensive clinical diagnostic multi-disciplinary laboratory service which includes Biochemistry, Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Microbiology. The Pathology Department provides a comprehensive Consultant led service and is accredited to the ISO 15189:2022 International Standard.
Ideal Candidate:
Enthusiastic Medical Scientist with good interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work as part of a professional team providing a quality service.
Familiarity with ISO15189 and JCI standards.
Excellent scientific knowledge, judgement and technical skills.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritise the day-to-day workload effectively.
Medical Scientist experience is advantageous.
Essential Qualifications:
Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Medical Scientists Register maintained by the Medical Scientists Registration Board at CORU.
Experience & Responsibility:
Maintain awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all hospital activities.
Participate in the delivery of a laboratory service that supports the clinical needs of its patients and is consistent with the laboratory quality statement, mission, vision, values and strategic plan of the organisation.
Perform assigned work to the highest professional standard in accordance with ISO 15189 and laboratory SOPs.
Perform all activities related to the receipt, analysis and reporting of laboratory specimens.
Assist with the performance, maintenance, condition, quality control and record keeping of all instruments within assigned areas of the laboratory.
Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the values of the profession of Medical Scientist.
