About ROQ
ROQ Commercial Contracting is a growing civil engineering contractor delivering utilities, earthworks, road construction, drainage, site clearance and infrastructure projects across Ireland.
Due to continued growth and the commencement of works on the North Connacht 110kV Cable Project, we are seeking an experienced Rubber Duck Operator with Encon to join our team working on the Ballaghaderreen section of the project, with works progressing towards Mayo as the project advances.
This is a permanent position offering long-term opportunities beyond the current project.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced wheeled excavator operator to support the delivery of major utilities and civil engineering works.
The successful candidate will be involved in ESB ducting installation, trench excavation, joint bay construction and associated civil engineering activities, working closely with site management and ground crews.
This role requires someone who can work safely and efficiently in a live utilities environment and who takes pride in operating machinery to a high standard.
Main Responsibilities
- Operating wheeled excavators (Rubber Ducks) safely and efficiently
- Excavation of trenches for ESB ducting installation
- Assisting with joint bay construction works
- Loading materials and supporting site operations
- Working safely around existing underground services
- Carrying out grading, backfilling and reinstatement works
- Supporting utilities and general civils activities
- Completing daily machine inspections and defect reports
- Maintaining machinery to a high standard
- Adhering to all site health & safety requirements
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience operating wheeled excavators on utilities or civil engineering projects
- Experience working on:
- Utilities projects
- ESB ducting works
- Earthworks
- Roadworks
- Infrastructure projects
- Good understanding of safe excavation practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong awareness of health and safety requirements
Essential:
- Safe Pass
- CSCS Wheeled Excavator Ticket
- Manual Handling
- Full driving licence
Desirable:
- Signing, Lighting & Guarding
- ROARS Certification
- Experience on ESB, Uisce Éireann or telecoms projects
- GPS machine control experience
