Quality Control Assistant
Butlers Chocolate Manufacturing Facility is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Control Assistant to join our team.
The successful candidate will join the Quality Control Department at Butlers Chocolates, Ireland's leading family-owned chocolatier. This is an exciting and varied role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, supporting the production of premium chocolate products while ensuring the highest standards of quality, food safety, and compliance in line with our QMS, HACCP, SOPs, and Food Safety requirements.
Job Objective
Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, the Quality Assistant will support Quality Control operations across the business, ensuring the highest standards of quality, food safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction are consistently achieved.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and support the Quality Management System (QMS), HACCP, SOPs, and Food Safety programmes.
- Ensure products meet specifications, customer requirements, and food safety legislation throughout production.
- Conduct ingredient, in-process, and finished product sampling, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
- Perform microbiological sampling, testing, and retain sample management.
- Carry out daily quality checks to ensure products meet company standards before dispatch.
- Assist with customer complaint investigations and quality-related feedback.
- Monitor and calibrate food safety and quality control equipment.
- Verify the quality of incoming raw materials and liaise with suppliers when required.
- Promote compliance with hygiene, food safety, and company procedures across all departments.
- Support BRC and other food safety audits by maintaining accurate documentation and records.
Qualification and Experience
- Third-level qualification in Food Science, Nutrition, Food Technology, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing or quality control environment is advantageous but not essential.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, food safety systems, and BRCGS standards is desirable.

Contract & Career Progression
The successful candidate will commence on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract. Following a successful review, the contract may be extended for a further 6 months, with the opportunity to progress to a permanent position.
Working Hours
Flexibility to work occasional weekends during peak production periods is required.
Salary
Competitive hourly rate, based on experience.
Pay: €15.50-€16.00 per hour
