The candidate will be required to provide services to residents in the following locations :
St Doolaghs Park Care & Rehabilitaytion Centre, Malahide Road, Balgriffin, Dublin 17
Elm Green Nursing Home, Dunsink Lane, Castleknock, Dublin 15
Riverview Community Living, Dunsink Lane, Castleknock, Dublin 15
We provide a high quality, specialised assessment and neurorehabilitation service for people with complex cognitive/physical/behavioural/emotional difficulties following an acquired brain injury.
Purpose of Role:
The role of the senior psychologist is to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team providing specialist assessment and neurorehabilitation services to adults with acquired brain injuries.
Professional & Clinical
Administer psychometric and neuropsychological assessments to measure outcomes for residents.
Case formulation and implementation of a range of therapeutic interventions via individual and group session format.
Conduct functional behavioural assessments and devise positive behaviour support plans.
Ensure quality and consistent implementation of psychological and behavioural interventions across staff team.
Provide sensitive information and relevant psychoeducation pertinent to ABI for residents and their family members with a compassionate approach.
Deliver regular staff training, education, advice and consultation via daily interactions, workshops, and formal presentations.
Work closely and in collaboration with other MDT members to support resident's goals.
Contribute to clinical governance, risk assessments and overall safeguarding of residents.
Attendance at MDT meetings and Case Conferences, as required.
Liaise with and make referrals to external agencies, stakeholders, and support services as required.
Support residents to set and achieve personal SMART goals in their rehabilitation.
Conduct capacity assessments for a range of specific circumstances and possess up-to-date knowledge of legal frameworks to guide good practice in this regard.
Provide professional and clinical supervision of assistant psychologist.
Contribute to the MDT assessment of newly referred prospective residents.
Contribute to discharge planning and supporting of residents transitioning to living in the community after their rehabilitation programme is complete.
Support the continuous development and introduction of changes and improvements in clinical practice relevant to the centre.
Demonstrate capability for emotionally demanding work and willingness to develop high level psychological skills required for the specialism of ABI.
Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues, members of the clinical teams, senior management, and outside agencies, stakeholders, and services.
Maintain records of professional work and provide, as required, reports and relevant documentation supporting and contributing to the delivery and service evaluation - (e.g., significant contribution towards CARF survey and ongoing accreditation maintenance).
Keep informed about current and future policies, strategies, procedures, guidelines, protocols, and legislation.
Engage in personal professional clinical supervision relevant to the specialism, as per PSI supervision guidelines.
Participate in continuous professional development and ensure compliance with statutory registration requirements.
Ensure the maintenance of appropriate health care records and statistics in line with Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Acts, GDPR and other relevant legislation.
Carry out other duties which may be assigned by senior management.
Essential
Recognised honours degree in psychology.
Recognised post-graduate professional qualification in psychology. (Candidates who have completed their post-graduate training outside the Republic of Ireland must ensure that their qualification is validated by the Department of Health and Children) or is a chartered psychologist with a recognised psychological regulatory body.
Minimum of 3 years psychology postgraduate experience - this can include time spent in postgraduate professional training.
Possess the requisite knowledge, ability, and suitability for proper discharge of the duties of the post.
Relevant training and experience in psychological assessment, interventions, and therapeutic skills for individuals with acquired brain injury.
Experience of teaching, training, lecturing, and giving presentations.
Experience of clinical supervision of assistant psychologists.
Flexibility and ability to adapt under pressure and prioritise a comprehensive caseload.
Excellent report writing skills with attention to detail.
Approachable, compassionate, and ability to maintain professional and ethical standards as set out by psychological regulatory body.
Clean drivers' licence and private transport.
