Position Description
ESB is seeking to recruit a solicitor to join the Property, Planning & Environment and Employment Law (PPEEL) team. This team forms part of the wider in-house legal team in ESB which provides legal expertise and advises on all property, planning & environment and employment law issues affecting ESB’s business and ESB Strategy.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for legal advice regarding a varied range of property development and environmental issues across ESB’s Group.

Key Responsibilities
Reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and advising on multifaceted transactions including environmental property issues
Applying professional values and sound judgement with strong awareness of laws relevant to development of land, demonstrating familiarity with ESB’s legislative, regulatory, and corporate governance frameworks
Running planning hearings and providing support in planning and environmental litigation, briefing, and attending Counsel and when appropriate engaging with external law firms appointed by ESB and advising on the best approach to cases

This position will be based in ESB Head Office, Lower Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin 2.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week, subject to change as business needs change. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.
