Job Description
ABC Motor Services is seeking skilled, experienced and reliable Motor Vehicle Mechanics and Auto Body Repairers to join our team in Bray, Co. Wicklow.
The successful candidates will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing and repairing motor vehicles. The role will also include carrying out vehicle body repairs and ensuring that all vehicles are returned to customers in a safe, reliable and roadworthy condition.
Candidates must have a relevant automotive qualification, a valid driving licence and at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
Main Responsibilities
- Carry out routine and scheduled vehicle servicing and maintenance.
- Inspect vehicles and diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
- Use modern diagnostic equipment and testing methods to identify vehicle faults.
- Repair or replace engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering systems, suspension systems, exhaust systems and electrical components.
- Carry out oil and filter changes, brake checks, coolant system servicing and general maintenance.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify wear, damage and potential faults.
- Carry out auto body repairs, including dent removal, panel repair and panel replacement.
- Repair vehicle bodywork following accident damage.
- Prepare damaged surfaces by sanding, filling, smoothing and polishing.
- Remove and replace damaged vehicle body parts where necessary.
- Ensure all repair and maintenance work is completed according to safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct final inspections and tests to confirm that vehicles are safe and operating correctly.
- Refer to technical manuals, service bulletins and diagnostic software when carrying out repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, servicing, repairs and parts used.
- Provide updates regarding vehicle condition and repair progress.
- Complete all assigned work within the required timeframe..
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
- Keep up to date with developments in automotive technology, diagnostic methods and repair practices.
Essential Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in motor vehicle maintenance, mechanical repair or auto body repair.
- A relevant automotive qualification is required.
- A valid driving licence is required.
- Good knowledge of vehicle mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.
- Experience using vehicle diagnostic equipment and standard garage tools.
- Ability to diagnose faults accurately and carry out repairs independently.
- Knowledge of auto body repair methods, including dent removal, panel repair and surface preparation.
- Good manual and technical skills.
- Commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in an Asian language would be considered an advantage.
