General Operative (Internal Fit-Out) is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations on commercial and residential interior fit-out projects. The role involves preparing work areas, assisting skilled tradespeople (carpenter, plasterers, partition installers, electricians), managing materials safely, and ensuring a clean, efficient, and compliant work environment.
Site Preparation & Housekeeping
Set up and maintain protective floor coverings, dust screens, and temporary edge protections.
Ensure constant site tidiness and strict waste segregation, removing debris to skips to comply with Irish environmental regulations.
Keep access paths, emergency exits, and material storage zones clear at all times.
Material Handling & Logistics
Safely load, unload, and distribute internal fit-out materials (e.g., plasterboard, glass panels, ceiling tiles, metal studding, joinery components) across multiple floors.
Assist with the inventory of incoming site deliveries, checking for damaged goods and storing them in designated secure areas.
Trade Assistance
Assist skilled installers with tasks such as holding bulkheads, positioning partition panels, and handling heavy framework.
Safely operate hand and power tools (e.g., drills, grinders, industrial vacuums) to the level of training provided.
Perform basic stripping-out or minor demolition tasks under supervision before the installation phase.
Health & Safety Compliance
Adhere strictly to the company’s Safety Statement, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).
Participate daily/weekly in site **Toolbox Talks** and safety briefings.
Wear and maintain mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times (Steel toe boots, Hi-Vis, Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, and Gloves).
Candidate Requirements
Essential Criteria
Valid Solas Safe Pass card.
Valid Manual Handling certificate.
Previous experience working in construction, manufacturing, or commercial fit-out environments.
Good physical condition, capable of lifting materials and working in restricted indoor spaces.
Strong communication skills and fluency in English (for safety compliance and understanding site instructions).
Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
Location: Dublin
Hours:Typically 45 hours per week with potential for overtime or weekend shifts depending on project deadlines.
