MDE Installations is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Electrical Meter Surveyor to support the successful delivery of smart meter works across Ireland. The successful candidate will carry out field-based checks on completed meter installations, review workmanship and documentation, and support sign-off where installations meet the required standards.
This is a customer-facing role, requiring a professional and courteous approach when attending customer premises. The role is key to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction while supporting installers, supervisors, and operational teams.
This is a project-based role linked to the delivery of smart meter works across Ireland. The position is expected to continue in line with project requirements, with potential for extension depending on business needs and ongoing project demand.
About The Role
Key Responsibilities

Attend customer premises to carry out field inspections and surveys of completed electrical meter installations.

Check that installation works have been completed to the required company, client, and industry standards.

Assess the quality and safety of installations and identify any remedial actions required.

Complete sign-off documentation, survey records, and quality reports accurately and promptly.

Use handheld mobile technology and company systems to update job details and inspection outcomes.

Liaise with installers, supervisors, and operational teams to ensure any issues are highlighted and resolved promptly.

Provide clear, professional feedback through the appropriate channels where installation issues are identified.

Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and communicating them to the wider team.

Maintain a professional, polite, and helpful manner when dealing with customers on-site.

Explain basic process information to customers where required and escalate any customer concerns appropriately.

Follow all Health & Safety procedures and ensure inspections are carried out safely.

Travel throughout Ireland as required to meet business and project needs.
Essential Requirements

Previous experience in a field-based, technical, utilities, construction, electrical, or installation environment.

Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused approach to work.

Good communication skills and confidence dealing with customers in person.

Ability to work independently, manage workloads, and follow scheduled appointments or site visits.

Comfortable using mobile devices, tablets, and reporting systems.

Good problem-solving skills and ability to escalate issues appropriately.

Full clean driving licence.

Full authorisation to work in Ireland.
Desirable Experience / Qualifications

Electrical qualification, electrical apprenticeship, or previous electrical training is desirable.

Previous experience with smart meters, electrical metering, utilities, or energy infrastructure projects.

Experience carrying out surveys, inspections, audits, or quality assurance checks.

Knowledge of electrical installation practices and Health & Safety requirements.

Safe Pass, manual handling, or other relevant site safety training.
