Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and physically fit Firewood Production Operative to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to convert raw logs into high-quality, processed firewood. This includes operating firewood processing machinery, bagging, stacking and packaging firewood. This is an active, role requiring a focus on safety and consistency.
Responsibilities;
- Operate a Firewood Processor to cut and split logs to specified sizes.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of machinery and tools (including checking hydraulic oil levels and cleaning debris/waste from machinery) to ensure safe and efficient operation, reporting any issues to management immediately.
- Continuously monitor the size and quality of firewood to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Bag, stack, wrap and label firewood products efficiently in order to meet production targets.
- Follow all Health and Safety procedures (including wearing the required PPE), reporting any unsafe conditions immediately
- Keep work area and general yard clean and tidy and free of hazardous debris.
- Take responsibility for the quality of own work.
- Complete training as required.
- Complete additional duties as required.
Requirements;
- Experience operating Firewood Processors is highly preferred.
- Previous experience working in the timber/forestry industry is also preferred.
- Experience of working in a busy production environment with a strong awareness of safety protocols regarding machinery.
- Good physical fitness and ability to perform heavy manual work in accordance with H&S guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Hardworking with good timekeeping as the role is a vital part of the production process.
- Be self-motivated, with the ability to work on your own initiative.
- Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner.
- Willingness to be cross trained across different production areas.
- Willingness to follow instructions and work as part of a team to meet production goals.
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience driving a Forklift an advantage.
- Manual Handling Certificate.
Pay: From €14.15 per hour
Expected hours: 39.0 per week
