About the Role
We are seeking a commercially minded and ambitious Financial Accountant to join our privately owned group, comprising a successful retail business and a property investment portfolio.
Based at our head office in Glasnevin, this is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with 3–5 years post-qualification experience to join a growing, entrepreneurial business. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and shareholders, gaining broad exposure across retail operations, property investment, financial reporting, treasury, and strategic projects.
The role offers significant scope for career progression and development within the group.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports across multiple entities.
- Perform detailed variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance.
- Assist with the preparation of annual statutory financial statements.
- Support the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
Retail Finance
- Monitor and analyse sales, margins, stock movements and operating costs.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management.
- Support the preparation of management information and KPIs for senior management.
- Work closely with operational teams to improve reporting and business performance.
Property Finance
- Maintain financial records for property investment entities and SPVs.
- Prepare property income, expenditure and cashflow reports.
- Assist with financing arrangements, loan covenant reporting and banking requirements.
- Support acquisitions, disposals and refinancing projects as required.
Tax and Compliance
- Prepare and review VAT returns, RCT returns and other regulatory filings.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and tax obligations.
- Liaise with external tax advisors and professional advisors.
Treasury and Business Support
- Assist with treasury management and cashflow forecasting.
- Support strategic projects, business analysis and process improvements.
- Participate in the implementation and enhancement of financial systems and controls.
- Provide financial support and analysis to directors and senior management.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will possess:
- ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification.
- 3–5 years post-qualification experience.
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills.
- Experience in practice, industry, or a combination of both.
- Excellent analytical and commercial skills.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong systems aptitude.
- High levels of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to work independently.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in retail, property, hospitality or multi-entity environments.
- Exposure to owner-managed businesses.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management.
- Experience using Intact iQ accounting software (or similar ERP/accounting systems) would be a distinct advantage.
- Knowledge of property investment structures and SPVs.
