The Electrical Chargehand is responsible for leading a team of electricians, apprentices and operatives in the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems. The role ensures work is completed safely, to the required quality standards, and within agreed production or project schedules.
This role is for Cental's evening shift, Mon-Thu 4:30pm-01:30am, Fri 12:30pm-5:30pm

Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of electricians and electrical operatives.

Allocate work tasks and monitor progress against production/project schedules.

Ensure all electrical installations are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, regulations, and company standards.

Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.

Carry out inspections and quality checks on completed work.

Support electrical testing, fault-finding, and commissioning activities.

Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.

Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings where required.

Monitor materials, tools, and equipment requirements and report shortages.

Liaise with supervisors, project managers, production teams, and other trades to ensure efficient workflow.

Train, mentor, and support apprentices and junior team members.

Maintain accurate records of work completed, inspections, and any issues identified.

Report technical, quality, or safety concerns promptly to management.

Qualified Electrician with recognised electrical trade certification.

National Craft Certificate or equivalent electrical qualification.

Minimum 3–5 years' post-qualification electrical experience.

Previous experience leading or supervising electrical teams.

Experience in industrial, manufacturing, modular construction, or commercial electrical installations.

Strong understanding of electrical regulations and industry standards.

Strong leadership and people management skills.

Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise work effectively.

Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
