Job Overview:
The Early Years Educator will work as part of a team to deliver a high standard of care and education to children. Reporting to the Team Leader/ Manager, the successful candidate will support the implementation of engaging learning experiences and ensure the wellbeing and development of all children.
Key Information:
- Job Title: Childcare Practitioner/ Early Years Educator
- Working hours: 37.5 – 40 hours per week
- Job type: Permanent; full-time
- Location: Ballintubber, Co. Mayo; within commuting distance of Ballinrobe and Castlebar
- Pay: Starting at €15 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for children.
- Support the planning and implementation of activities in line with Aistear and Síolta frameworks.
- Assist in observing, recording, and assessing children’s development.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Ensure compliance with TUSLA regulations, company policies, and health & safety standards.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, and team members.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming environment.
- Support children’s emotional, social, and educational development.
- Follow child protection procedures and report any concerns in line with Children First guidelines.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum Level 5 qualification in Early Childhood Education or equivalent
- Experience working in a childcare setting is an advantage.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and best practice standards.
- Understanding of TUSLA regulations and child protection requirements.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A warm, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with children.
- Irish Driving Licence highly desired, but not essential.
