We’re seeking a dedicated and meticulous Laboratory Technician to join our team. This role involves conducting bench-top chemical & microbiological testing of milk and dairy products as specified in our quality operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
· Analyse raw Milk samples for Total Bacteria Count and for Fat, Protein, Lactose & pH and sensory evaluation.
· Carry out Antibiotic Testing on Raw milk using charm and delvo test.
· Calibrate Machinery daily and carry out proficiency checks
· Making up reagents for machines as needed
· Maintain meticulous documentation, and consistently enter data in an accurate, complete and legible way.
· Report out of spec product results to management.
· Operate, calibrate and clean lab equipment as needed.
· Liaise with various Regulatory officials and auditors as needed.
· Comply with GMP’s as outlined in the plant GMP policy.
· Comply with plant safety procedures, work safely with chemicals.
· Accurately organise and package samples for shipment to external laboratories.
· Assist with other laboratory tasks as required.
· Carry out internal audits and be actively involved in all documentation to maintain and comply with all regulatory requirements.
· Ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times with respect to customer information.
· Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
· A qualification in science or related discipline with 3 years’ work experience in a food production business
· Be energetic with excellent time management skills to allow accurate execution of tasks/projects and deadlines
· Analytical and logical approach with a keen eye for detail
· Experience in working in a busy Laboratory environment
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· Excellent standards of PC literacy (Excel, Word)
· High level of attention to detail
· Availability to work weekends and overtime as needed
· Keen interest on food science and food safety
· Able to thrive under pressure and work as part of team in a fast-paced environment
