Oldcastle Laboratories Ltd is an ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory providing high-quality analytical services to the agricultural, environmental and veterinary sectors. We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and organised Senior Laboratory Analyst to join our growing team in our Molecular Lab.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced laboratory professional who enjoys both hands-on analytical work and leading the day-to-day operation of a busy laboratory.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing in accordance with ISO17025 accredited methods.
- Carry out molecular testing using PCR techniques.
- Perform ELISA testing to accredited procedures.
- Conduct routine parasitology examinations and reporting.
- Ensure all testing is performed in compliance with quality management procedures and standard operating procedures.
- Review analytical data and maintain accurate laboratory records.
- Assist with troubleshooting analytical issues and implementing corrective actions where required.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, perform routine quality control checks, and ensure laboratory housekeeping standards are maintained.
Leadership Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to control the the day-to-day management of laboratory operations, including:
- Planning and coordinating daily laboratory workflows.
- Scheduling testing activities and allocating work to laboratory analysts.
- Monitoring sample turnaround times and ensuring customer deadlines are achieved.
- Supporting and mentoring laboratory staff.
- Assisting with staff training and competency assessments.
- Working closely with laboratory management to continually improve efficiency, quality, and customer service.
Essential Requirements
- Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Molecular Biology, Biomedical Science, Veterinary Science, or a related scientific discipline.
- Previous experience working within an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory favourable.
- Practical experience with PCR and ELISA methodologies essential.
- Experience in laboratory quality systems and documentation favourable.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality analytical results.
- Ability to lead by example and work effectively within a team.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in Molecular diagnostic testing.
- Previous experience supervising laboratory staff or coordinating laboratory workloads.
