The Role:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Credit Controller with strong experience in a commercial environment, to play a crucial role in our day-to-day accounts function. You will have main responsibility for accounts payable/receivable and all associated finance functions. You will be required to prepare monthly management accounts, complete monthly bank and VAT reconciliations (Euro & GB) and submit VIES and Intrastat returns. You will review and process supplier payments, sales staff commissions and assist with annual audit preparations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor a high-volume sales ledger, proactively chasing outstanding payments via email and phone and process daily cash receipts
- Investigate and resolve customer invoice queries and disputes efficiently and effectively.
- Prepare and distribute monthly sales reports, aged debtor reports, invoices and monthly statements.
- Maintain accurate customer accounts and records, including issuing credit notes, lodgements and reconciliations.
- Escalate problematic accounts and recommend credit holds or further action when necessary.
- Maintain company vehicle registers, staff holiday register and support insurance updates and renewals.
- Collaborate with sales, operations, and directors to prevent payment issues and improve collection processes.
- Prepare payroll for company accountant.
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years' experience in a credit control, accounts assistant or similar role.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft, Excel and accounting software. Intact IQ experience a distinct advantage.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with a tactful yet assertive approach.
- Highly organised, methodical, and able to work calmly under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
- A self-motivated individual with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- A proactive problem-solver with a customer-focused mindset.
