Yard Operative – Plant Hire
DHS Complete Hire is seeking a motivated Yard Operative to join our busy plant and equipment hire operation. This hands-on role involves preparing, inspecting, maintaining and organising equipment while supporting our workshop, trade counter and hire teams.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring our customers receive safe, clean and well-maintained equipment while maintaining high standards throughout the yard.

Pay and benefits:
- Salary: €37,000 - €40,000 per year (€16.00 - €17.00 per hour) depending on experience

Key Skills & Duties
- Inspecting machines for defects and completing required SOP’s between operational departments and hire control and trade counter teams.
- Preparation of yards and small tools and plant areas and washing down and fuel filling of machines.
- Use of forklift truck to move equipment around the yard, including the loading and unloading of equipment and plant.
- Completion of various Health and Safety and environmental check lists and related tasks.
- Rotate the stock of electrical machines and charge up, as necessary.
- Minor servicing and maintenance.
- From time to time, in the event of shortage of drivers, deliver and collect small tools and related equipment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience working in a yard, plant hire, construction, engineering or similar environment is preferred. Plant hire experience would be advantageous, however full training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Competent and aware in the safe use and operation of a wide range of machinery and equipment.
- Essential: Full clean driving license
- Desirable: Counterbalance forklift certificate (training can be provided for suitable candidates)

Full training will be provided including Health & Safety, plant operations, workshop safety, loading and unloading procedures, environmental awareness and equipment-specific training.
This role offers opportunities to develop within the wider AER Rents Group, with progression into workshop, transport, hire control, trade counter and management positions.
Role terms and conditions:
- Full time and permanent.
- Monday to Friday 07.30 to 17.30 (45 hour week).
- 20 days holidays plus statutory Bank Holidays.
- 6 month probationary period
- Reporting to Workshop Manager
