We’re looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Porter / Café Assistant to join our team at The Menu Cakery.
This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys keeping busy and is happy working across different areas of the business. Your main responsibility will be supporting our kitchen team with cleaning, washing up and general kitchen porter duties, while also helping our front-of-house team during busy periods.
You’ll be part of a small, friendly team, so we’re looking for someone who is flexible, takes initiative and is happy to jump in wherever needed. (
What you'll be doing
- Washing dishes, trays, utensils and kitchen equipment
- Keeping kitchen, wash-up and back-of-house areas clean and organised
- Supporting the kitchen team with general cleaning and basic preparation tasks
- Maintaining excellent hygiene and food-safety standards
- Helping front of house during busy periods
- Serving customers and taking orders
- Preparing coffees and other drinks
- Restocking and keeping the shop clean and presentable
- Working as part of the wider team to keep the day running smoothly
About you
We'd love to hear from you if you:
- Have own means of transportation (public transport does not qualify)
- Are reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Have a positive and friendly manner with customers
- Are happy doing both kitchen porter and customer-facing work
- Have good attention to cleanliness and hygiene
- Can work independently and use your initiative
- Are available to work midweek
- Have previous café, hospitality or kitchen experience
Barista experience would be an advantage, but training can be provided to the right person.
The role:
- Primarily midweek shifts
- Daytime hours
- Based at The Menu Cakery in Halfway, Co. Cork T12P899
- Combination of kitchen porter and café/front-of-house duties
- Part-time minimum of 20 hrs but ideal position has at least 30 hrs / week
