Occupational Therapist
The Staff Grade Occupational Therapist will work as part of an interdisciplinary Children's Disability Network Team providing family-centred, evidence-based services to children and young people (0–18 years) with complex developmental needs and disabilities. The post holder will support children and families to maximise participation, independence, development, and quality of life across home, school, and community settings. The successful candidate will be based at the Spraoi Centre, Portlaoise, with responsibility for providing services across the catchment areas of Edenderry, Mountmellick and Portarlington.
Responsibilities of Occupational Therapist

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate occupational therapy interventions for children and young people with a range of developmental, physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities.

Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments using standardised and non-standardised assessment tools.

Develop and implement individualised intervention plans in collaboration with children, families, carers and relevant stakeholders.

Deliver interventions in individual, group and consultative formats as appropriate.

Provide recommendations regarding equipment, environmental adaptations and assistive technology.

Support children in developing skills related to self-care, play, school participation, sensory processing, motor development and independence.

Contribute to multidisciplinary assessment and intervention planning.

Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with professional and organisational standards.

Participate in service development initiatives and quality improvement activities.
- Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team including Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Social Workers and other relevant professionals.

Participate in team meetings, case discussions and joint interventions.
Requirements of Occupational Therapist

Experience working in paediatric disability services is advantageous

CORU registered

Min Degree qualification in Occupational Therapy

Experience working within a Children's Disability Network Team.

Experience delivering group interventions and parent training programmes.
- A full driving licence and access to transport may be advantageous.
