Job Title: Function Chef
Reports to: Executive Head Chef
The Riverside Park Hotel is seeking an experienced and driven Function Chef to take a leading role in delivering exceptional food for our busy events and banqueting operations.
This is a senior, hands-on position, where the successful candidate will confidently run functions end-to-end, ensuring every event from weddings and large banquets to conferences and private dining is executed seamlessly, on time, and to the highest standard.
You will be instrumental in leading the kitchen team during functions, maintaining exceptional quality under pressure, and ensuring each guest experience reflects the high standards and reputation of the Riverside Park Hotel.
Key Responsibilities
Function & Banqueting Leadership
- Take full ownership of all kitchen aspects of functions and events
- Lead and manage large-scale food service during weddings, conferences, and banquets
- Ensure smooth, efficient service from prep through to final delivery
- Run function service with confidence, ensuring timing, presentation, and coordination are flawless
Food Quality & Consistency
- Deliver consistently high-quality food across large-volume service
- Ensure presentation, portion control, and taste meet the hotel’s standards
- Support the creation and continuous development of function menus
- Balance creativity with practical execution in a high-volume environment
Planning & Organisation
- Oversee all prep and mise en place for functions to ensure readiness
- Manage stock control, ordering, and waste minimisation effectively
- Anticipate service challenges and plan ahead to avoid disruption
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain the highest standards of hygiene, food safety, and HACCP compliance
- Ensure all allergen and dietary requirements are managed with care and precision
- Keep the kitchen environment clean, organised, and compliant at all times
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in a senior chef position, ideally within a hotel or banqueting environment
- Strong track record of successfully running large-scale functions independently
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen
- Strong focus on quality, consistency, and guest experience
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends
- Calm, organised, and solution-focused under pressure
