You know this job. You've spent years making rooms perfect, spotting the things nobody else sees, and quietly holding standards together on busy mornings. The question is where you do it next - and who backs you while you do.
The George is a 4-star boutique hotel in the heart of Limerick, part of the Savoy Collection. We're looking for a Housekeeping Supervisor to help lead our Accommodation Team. You'll report directly to the Accommodation Manager, run the floor day to day, and step up to run the department when they're away. If you're an experienced accommodation professional ready to lead - or already leading and looking for a hotel that invests in you - keep reading.
Why The George
- Genuine progression. You'll deputise for the Accommodation Manager during leave — scheduling, stock control, payroll information, quality audits, the lot. That's real management experience, and we'll train you for it.
- Development that's ongoing. Ongoing in-house training and a wide range of learning and development programmes across every level and department. Your growth here isn't left to chance.
- A team that looks after its own. Employee recognition awards, Christmas parties and regular get-togethers, and an Employee Wellness Programme. Good work gets noticed here.
- The practical stuff, sorted. Competitive salary, complimentary meals on duty (plus all the teas and coffees you need), uniforms with dry-cleaning provided, the Bike to Work scheme, discounted accommodation rates, employee discounts across our outlets, and discounted rates with local businesses and services.
What You'll Do
You'll run the daily housekeeping operation and set the tone for the team — on time, well presented, and leading from the front.
- Brief the team each morning: work allocations, daily priorities, VIP arrivals, departures and special guest requests.
- Allocate rooms and public area duties so the workload is fair and the day runs to plan.
- Inspect guest bedrooms, corridors, public areas and back-of-house before rooms are released, making sure everything meets our 4-star standard.
- Coach and support the Accommodation Assistants through their shift - guidance where it's needed, a hand when it's busy, consistency everywhere.
- Keep trolleys, linen cupboards, storage and service areas clean, organised, secure and properly stocked.
- Monitor linen usage and stock, separating damaged linen and towels for the laundry and keeping waste down.
- Hold strict control of master keys, section keys and electronic access, always following security procedures.
- Spot, log and report maintenance defects and safety hazards - then follow up until they're fixed.
- Record and store lost property accurately, in line with hotel policy and legal requirements.
- Investigate and immediately report any missing property, suspicious activity or security concerns to the Accommodation Manager and Hotel Management.
- Handle guest requests, queries and complaints promptly and professionally, resolving what you can and escalating what you can't.
- Work closely with Reception, Maintenance, Laundry and other departments on room status, guest requests and daily priorities.
- Keep an eye on productivity so rooms are serviced on time without ever cutting corners on quality.
- Help recruit, induct and train new team members so everyone knows the standards and how we work.
- Give regular coaching and honest feedback, and build a positive, respectful working environment.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Manual Handling, Infection Prevention, Chemical Safety, Security, GDPR and Customer Care policies.
- Carry out regular safety checks and make sure chemicals, equipment and machinery are used and stored correctly.
- Support energy conservation, water usage and waste reduction within the department.
- Complete daily reports, inspection records, maintenance logs and lost property documentation accurately and on time.
- Attend meetings, training and briefings - and bring your ideas. We want them.
- Pitch in for other departments during busy periods and take on other reasonable duties as requested by the Accommodation Manager or Hotel Management.
Who We're Looking For
- At least 2 years' experience as a Housekeeping or Accommodation Supervisor in a 4-star hotel.
- A natural leader - people trust you, follow you and improve around you.
- Sharp attention to detail and no interest in “good enough”.
- Strong organisation and time management, and calm under pressure when the house is full.
- Clear, confident communication with your team, other departments and guests.
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety, manual handling and hotel hygiene standards.
- Comfortable with basic computer systems.
- Flexible across a variety of shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Legally entitled to work in Ireland.
